Welcome to Golden British Columbia

Population: 4,000
Elevation: 790 metres (2592 ft.)

One of the major centers of the Canadian Pacific Railroad on the eastern side of Rogers Pass. Located in a panorama of mountain and water, this unpretentious community is an idyllic vacation spot - a splendid cast of massive snow-clad peaks, shimmering lakes and high country blue skies.
Preserved remnants of early 19th century architecture harmonize with alluring shops and restaurants. Playgrounds, in-town hiking paths and a riverside park are appealing features. Nature prevails on a picture-perfect golf course with a nest of eagles on the 14th hole. Naturalists converge on Golden as a vantage point for wildlife viewing and birdwatching. Anglers fish the local rivers and lakes for trophies.

Access: Located at the junction of Highways 1 and 95, Golden can be reached from Revelstoke in west, Calgary in east and Cranbrook in the south. Golden is serviced by commercial bus line and an airstrip for private flights only.
